Rainy Day Afternoon

Afternoon clouds

stole the sun

from earthly eyes,

thrust it deep

into their grey wool darkness

and replaced it

with temporary fissures,

light jagged and urgent

like the S. O. S. escaping

clasped human hands

encaging a terrified

lightning bug.
